Data Retention & Deletion

What we retain and for how long

The following are our target retention windows for the main categories of data we handle. These windows describe how long related data may persist, not a limit on usage.

• Temporary media / audio for transcripts: media and audio processed to generate a transcript are treated as temporary and targeted for deletion within roughly 24 hours of processing.
• Generated exports: files you export are made available through signed download links that are intended to remain valid for about 7 days, after which the link expires.
• Account transcripts and history: if you have an account, saved transcripts and history are kept for the retention window associated with your plan, or until you delete them, whichever comes first.
• Deleted-account content: when an account is deleted, its associated content is removed in the ordinary course, generally within about 30 days, excluding records we are required to retain for billing or legal reasons.
• Operational logs: server and diagnostic logs are targeted for deletion after roughly 90 days.
• Billing and tax records: where they apply, these are kept for as long as the relevant legal and accounting requirements demand, which is typically longer than the periods above.

We do not claim to store nothing. Some data is necessarily processed and, for account features, stored; the goal of these windows is to keep it no longer than needed.

Your deletion controls

Where account features apply, you can remove your data yourself rather than waiting for a retention window to elapse:

• Delete individual items: remove a single saved transcript or item you no longer want to keep.
• Clear your history: delete your saved history in bulk from your account.
• Delete your account: request deletion of your account and its associated content, subject to the billing/legal records described below.

Account deletion

When you delete your account, we begin removing the content tied to it in the ordinary course. Our target is for that content to be cleared generally within about 30 days.

Some traces can persist a little longer than the target while deletion jobs and backups cycle through, and a limited set of records may be retained where the law or our billing obligations require it. See the next section for what that covers.

Legal and billing records

We keep certain records even after deletion where we are legally required to, or where they are needed to complete and document a transaction. This typically includes:

• Billing and payment records needed for accounting and tax compliance. All prices are shown in US dollars; there is no lifetime plan.
• Records required by law or retained to handle disputes, prevent abuse, or meet a regulatory obligation.

These records are kept only for as long as the applicable legal or accounting requirement calls for, and they are excluded from the routine deletion windows above.

The Privacy Policy remains the governing document for how we collect, use, and protect your information. If any detail here appears to conflict with it, the Privacy Policy controls.
